    @JeannieDiBon, does the app address posture in any way? I was recently diagnosed with EDS and I'm discovering that the way I sit and stand comfortable actually has me in a constant state of hyperextending, which creates more pain overall. (Standing I'm hyperextending my knees and ankles, sitting it's my hips, knees and neck/shoulders.) I cannot find a comfortable position to sit or stand. I think this is where I really have to start - are there any resources on the app that would help with this?

    Thanks so much, Jeannie! Explains why the pain always got worse after foam rolling, even though multiple Osteopaths, Chiropractors and PTs recommended it to me 🙈🙈 I discovered that for me, strengthening and NOT stretching or foam rolling the problematic areas is the key for minimizing pain and stabilizing instable joints

    So how are you meant to deal with the tightness? Last year I had to go through physical therapy to release the tightness in my tibialis muscles in both legs since there were so many muscle knots and the muscles were in pain all the time and so fatigued. My physical therapist advised me to use a fascia roller after workouts to help prevent tightness but I don't see much progress with my hypermobility journey and I'm wondering if this is why.

Like even if there was nothing at all that could be done, i would LOVE to know what’s causing all of my issues. Just diagnosed with hypertonic pelvic floor, affecting rectum, painful pelvis, vagina etc taken years and years to get this diagnosis and it all makes sense now. I am relieved to find your EDS video explaining breathing, pain relief and solutions to improve this condition. The Gynaecologist mentioned I was not carrying out a high enough pelvic floor lift, is this something that will improve whilst practicing this particular programme you have kindly created?

    • @JeannieDiBonHypermobility

      So glad you found this video helpful. I would definitely work on this plus see if you can see a pelvic health physio.

    • @GillianTaylorShaw
      @GillianTaylorShaw 17 дней назад

      Thanks. The Gynaecologist is referring me to specific Physio, he advised that just a routine physio who helps patients with pelvic floor exercises was not good enough as I need to be taught how to relax my pelvic floor first and only a few within the department have that kind of knowledge and training. No idea when that is likely to happen so feel in the meantime I need to start to learn how to breath and try and relax. Your video has given me a great start and provided me with more information. I was completely unaware of this condition and yet complaining about so many pelvic related issues. It was only when I received the results from a pelvis MRI to confirm I have a left inguinal hernia, right one was repaired 2018. During this MRI I was asked to bear down, which I did to my fullest capacity because that is what I thought they wanted me to do. The radiologist confirmed the hernia but also made a note of significant pelvic floor descent on straining. My surgeon never mentioned it on his clinic letter. When I asked him about it he was I feel a little taken aback, I already had a copy of my MRI and the CD as well. I advised him that I had spoken with my GP who immediately sent a referral to Gynaecology, she understood the relationship between pelvic floor and EDS which I am thankful for. The surgeon then decided to write to the Gynaecologist and miraculous 14 weeks later I am called to the professor of Gynaecology... He was not impressed by the Radiology department not providing guidance and for not recognising from my health records that I have EDS as well as hiatus hernia also. He said he was going to write to the department, whether this happens or not at least I kind of know where I am up to and kind of know what might happen next.

I'm a bit late to the party as I see this video was done 2 years ago, but good information survived the ice age, so here I am. May I ask what is the best way to share this information with the pediatric population (12 and under) who may not yet have that sense of proprioception or interoception to 'feel' where they are in space and detect good alignment of the joints from not-so-good alignment? So. I absolutely, positively canNOT stand up straight without moving. Will not ever happen. I sway a little as I try to find my balance as one joint or another randomly decides that it doesn't want to play well with the others. Until it remembers that we all play together or we all tumble to the ground (and then the next one decides, yeah, but I! don't want to play today.) Before I accepted this about myself, I had to go through a number of events where all the kids are made to stand still for some amount of time: kindergarten graduation, various class presentations, choral events, etc. Some adult in authority would stress that we all had to stand as perfectly still and straight as possible during this particular moment, and so little me would think: "Right. Can't do that normally. What can I do to make my legs stay still? Aha! I'll lock my knees! Then I can't sway!" No, but I can faint & tumble to the ground anyway..... (It didn't help that most of these events were held at the end of the school year/beginning of summer. In Mississippi, USA. Where our four seasons are Ridiculously-Warm; Oh-dear-it's-HOT; I'm-pretty-sure-hell-is-cooler-than-this, with roughly 2 weeks in February of: WTF? COLD? Wait, how do we drive in ice/snow?)
